Newsletter 120 - New Ordinance on Sanctions against Guinea - On 24 February 2010, the Swiss Federal Council resolved on a tightening of the sanctions against Guinea and subjected the existing Ordinance on Sanctions against Guinea to a comprehensive revision. Switzerland thereby adopts the additional sanctions imposed by the EU on 22 December 2009. The revised Ordinance came into force on 25 February 2010. Article 2 of the Ordinance provides for the freezing of funds and financial resources. The affected persons, business enterprises and organisations are listed in Appendix 2. 71 names are recorded at present. The Ordinance is available for consultation on the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) website. - Financial intermediaries are requested to report relevant business relationships to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in accordance with the provisions of the Ordinance against Guinea (SR 946.231.138.1) and to freeze the associated assets.
