Adjustment of the ordinance concerning measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran

Please be reminded that the UN-Security Council recently approved another round of sanctions on Iran. To comply with this the Swiss Federal Council has decided to impose new compulsory measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran and has adjusted both its ordinance concerning measures against this country and Appendix 1 and 3 of this ordinance. It especially has to be emphazised that according to the new article 3a of this ordinance it is forbidden with immediate effect to fulfil claims based on contractual relationships which are not longer allowed to be started or to be continued. Furthermore the Swiss Federal Council has updated Appendix 3 of the above mentioned ordinance by adding the names of 13 individuals and the business names of 12 companies. These changes came into force as of April 24, 2008.
