International Sanctions: Embargo Measures / Terrorism Lists
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO has extended and modernised its information service for the implementation of international sanctions and a new database and search function is available with effect from 27.11.2012.
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO provides an extended information service for the implementation of international sanctions on its website. All persons, companies and organisations affected by sanctions are recorded in a new, uniformly structured database. In addition to the previously available PDF and Word formats, the list of persons subject to sanctions is now also available in the XML and Excel formats. Furthermore, an advanced search function is provided which allows the user to navigate the entire database according to specific criteria. This new, state-of-the-art information service allows SECO to meet the long-held wishes of the interested parties.
As a member of the UN, Switzerland is obliged to implement the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council. In addition, Switzerland frequently adopts the sanctions imposed by her major trading partners, i.e. the EU. Twenty Ordinances which implement compulsory measures of this type are currently in force in Switzerland. The legal basis for this is the Federal Act on the Implementation of International Sanctions of 22 March 2002 (Embargo Act, EmbG).
