Newsletter 96 - Amendment to the Ordinance on Sanctions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) - The Federal Department of Economic Affairs amended the Ordinance on Sanctions against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) (SR 946.231.127.6) on 1 July 2009. The present change to the Ordinance extends the embargo to all armaments. Switzerland thus implements the pertinent provisions of Resolution 1874 of the UN Security Council of 12 June 2009. The amendment came into force on 2 July 2009. The Ordinance is available for consultation on the website of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). In accordance with Article 1 Paragraph 4 of the Ordinance on Measures against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) (SR 946.231.127.6), the provision or utilisation of financial services in connection with the supply, sale, transit, procurement, manufacture, maintenance or use of goods in accordance with Article 1 Paragraphs 1 and 2 is prohibited. In accordance with Article 1 Paragraph 4bis of the Ordinance, the provision or acceptance or financial resources in connection with the supply, sale, transit, procurement, manufacture, maintenance or use of goods in accordance with Article 1 Paragraphs 1 and 2 is prohibited.
